1920s Boxed Tungar Rectifier Valve Made by British Thomson Houston (BTH)

This is a 1920s Boxed Tungar Rectifier Valve Made by British Thomson Houston (BTH).

In pretty good condition, the valve comes in its original box which is in fairly good condition with storage scuffs and blemishes; it is missing a top flap. This valve, (TUNGAR= Tungsten-Argon with a Mogul screw base), has not been tested and is sold as a collectible for display only.

A 2-amp valve made for use with the Tungar rectifier and battery charger in its original box, and used for charging radios and car batteries from an AC supply: see original 1920s/30s advert and schematic amongst the images.

Made by BTH The British Thomson-Houston Co. Ltd based at Crown House, Aldrich, London, WC2, part of the AEI group. The patent citations date prior to the 1920s! In 1928, production of the Tungar valve was transferred to Edison Swan Electric company (Ediswan) making this BTH version a rarity.

A nice piece of Electrical history to add to your collection!
